USING YOUR EMAIL

Create a POP email account in cPanel

1.) Login to your cPanel: http://www.yoursite.com:2082 (you should bookmark this URL).

2.) Look for the "Email Management Tools" section and click on "Add / Remove E-mail account(s)":

3.) On the resulting screen, click "Add Account".

4.) Fill in the "Email", "Password", and "Quota" fields and click the "Create" button.

  • Email = The email address, ie. - sales@yourdomain.com
  • Password = The email account's password. You'll need this to retrieve email. We recommend 8 characters, A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and the special characters - @#$%&*.
  • Quota = The amount of space on your hosting account that you allot to this email address. (This amount is included in the total space allotment you have available, and even though it's optional to set it, we recommend that you DO set a number here. 5 MB's should be plenty for most email accounts).
= Delete this email address. When clicked, you will be given the choice whether to delete the email address or not.

= Access this email address via Webmail (through your browser). You'll need the Username and Password for the email address.

= Change the Quota (discspace in MBs) for this email address.

= Change the Password for this email address.

The "Outlook Express AutoConfig" link, will automatically install the proper mail settings for the associated email address in Outlook Express on your computer. Ensure that before you click this link, Outlook Express is NOT running, then follow the onscreen prompts.

Mail aging is the process in which e-mails will be removed from the server automatically, upon successful log out of a pop3 session. This deletion will only occur if the messages are older than a specified number of days.

Troubleshooting email problems

Here's a brief troubleshooting guide to setting up email. 99% of all email issues result from improper settings on the client's email program. Here are some screenshots for Outlook Express email properties.

(1). Delete and recreate the email account that is having issues. Most times, email issues can be corrected by deleting and then recreating the email account from your cPanel.

(2). Make sure that the domain having email problems is fully propagated to your account here. You can not use email before the domain is propagated.

(3). Make sure that you tick the box that says "My server requires authentification" as follows:

(4). Make sure that you have your FULL email address as your Account Name here:

(5). Make sure that you have the correct domain name in the mail.yourdomain.com as per:

(6). Make sure that you have the correct password that you entered when setting up the account as per:

If you have checked all your settings and your email is still not working, open a ticket at the Helpdesk and we'll troublshoot the issue for you.
