You'll need a method by which
you can track and analyze the traffic your site
receives.
There are many reasons for
this, but the most obvious is to analyze, over
time, your ROI (Return On Investment), or in
other words, "Is my website making money?".
Further, analyzing ROI can be broken down into
many factors. If your site is not an eCommerce
site, you will want to ensure that your traffic
is growing at an acceptable rate.
Other statistical factors
you'll want to gather and analyze are:
With these statistics, and
others, you'll be able to formulate strategies
for improving your website, your websites visitors
experience there, and you'll be able to judge
the effectiveness of your current SEO strategy.
In order to do this, you'll
need to have a traffic stats program. There
are a few ways you can implement this. First,
many web hosts (including MOR Designs Hosting)
provide traffic stats programs built-in to your
hosting account. Another method would be to
install a third party stats program on your
server. And yet another method would be to hire
out a third party (off-server) company to track
stats for you.
For the first two methods,
you will either need to perform the traffic
analysis yourself, or hire someone else (maybe
your webmaster) to do it for you.
The third method would entail
the company you hired analysing your stats for
you and communicating the results to you.
MOR
Designs Hosting provides
traffic analysis software, free of charge, as
a standard feature with all it's hosting packages.
The package we use is the highly comprehensive
AwStats
program.
* Note:
We do NOT recommend using a "hits counter"
on professional sites. They are fully inaccurate
for professional stats tracking purposes.
